The View: Kevin Hart’s Career
Funnyman Kevin Hart has gained a lot of notoriety in the comedy community, but his climb to comedy notoriety was not an easy one. Born in Philadelphia in 1980, his father was an in-and-out-of-jail cocaine addict that was never really around. It was in this barren familial landscape that Hart occupied otherwise desolate emotional spaces with jokes to make himself and others laugh.
After graduating from community college and finding work as a shoe salesman, Kevin Hart started to pursue a comedy career by performing standup comedy under the pseudonym “Lil Kev,” but was booed off stage and even had a piece of chicken thrown at him on numerous occasions. His fortunes turned, however, when he started winning amateur comedy competitions throughout Massachusetts and was cast as a regular character in Judd Apatow’s Undeclared, which, though it lasted only one season, led to Kevin being cast in films like Paper Soldiers and Along Came Polly.
The View: Kevin Hart Let Me Explain
Kevin Hart’s Career has since reached stratospheric heights. His standup comedy LP, Laugh At My Pain, has gone five times platinum since its release, grossing the comedian some $15 million. He has also been cast on TV shows like The Real Husbands Of Hollywood and movies like This Is The End. His most recent documentary, Let Me Explain, was filmed at a sold-out show in Madison Square Garden where he performed material from his 2012 Let Me Explain tour.
