The View: John Fogerty Wrote A Song For Everyone Review
Musician John Fogerty came on the show to perform songs from his greatest hits album, Wrote A Song For Everyone, which includes songs from his time with Creedence Clearwater Revival, his solo career, and some new songs that he wrote just for this collection.
The whole album was actually an idea of John Fogerty’s wife, who suggested that he go get some of his favorite singers to come sing some of his songs with him. With that being the case, John really did write a song for everyone with this album because, chances are, when you have performers like Tom Morello, My Morning Jacket, Miranda Lambert, Foo Fighters, and Bob Seger all on one album you will probably find something you like. John Fogery didn’t really have a scientific method to choosing artists, he just chose artists that he liked personally, people who’s albums he would buy.
What makes the album so special to John Fogerty is that he got to play music with some of his favorite musicians and that all of the music arrangements turned out very well. Indeed, Rolling Stone has already rated the album a blazing-hot 5 out of 5 stars.
The View: John Fogerty Performs
The 67-year-old still knows how to put on a show. His vocals sounded great across the four or so tracks that he performed, which included “Mystic Highway,” a new song that is featured on the album. Though it was disappointing that he couldn’t bring in any of the many artists that are featured on Wrote A Song For Everyone, he still made do with what he had, and you could tell that, even late in his career, he still loves what he does. His son actually performed with him today, providing some guitar work as part of the band.
