The View: Lionel Richie Returns To America
Lionel Richie has sold over 100 million records and, for the first time in over 10 years, is going to be touring America once again. With him having toured the rest of the world numerous times, why is he just now getting to America? Well, his European and Asian fans constantly asking for more and more of his music, he found himself always going back to them, so America fell by the wayside.
Lionel Richie talked about his hit “Brick House,” and what made him write it. He said that it came from the many “brick house” contests that him and his group, The Commodores, witnessed as they were touring around the world. With all of those different-size women, he just had to write a song about it.
The View: Lionel Richie American Tour
Lionel Richie said that the biggest thing he is looking forward to on his American Tour is walking out on stage to an audience that knows the words better than he does. The best show, said Lionel, happens out in the crown, and he loves watching what they do during his shows.
Lionel joked about that one woman in the front row of every show that would say “that’s not how that song goes,” to which he said he would reply, “then you sing it!”
The View: Woman Stripped For Lionel Richie Onstage
Having been on the road for so many years, Lionel Richie has to have accumulated a few stories. One time, while singing “All Night Long,” a lady walked onstage and, after glancing at Lionel and the crowd, started taking off all her clothes onstage.
Another time Lionel was performing, a lady in the front row literally brought a package of panties and was throwing them at him while he was onstage. Oh, the life of a pop star.
The View: Lionel Richie Performs Three Times A Lady
To close out the show, Lionel Richie performed “Three Times A Lady.” From the looks of it, Lionel has only gotten better at performing from his time in Europe and Asia, because even though it was just him, a piano, and a microphone, he still had everyone in the crowd mesmerized. It looks like he’s more than ready for that American Tour this year.
