The Doctors: Vegetable Smoothie Recipe
Wendell, the husband of Monique who needed to exercise more, was brought back on the stage to talk about his eating habits. Monique said Wendell has not eaten a vegetable in the past few months and Wendell even said he can take a healthy food and make it very unhealthy, in a very short amount of time. Dr. Lisa Masterson said a good way to get proteins and to eat the right amount of vegetables each day is to make smoothies or vegetable drinks. And wouldn’t you know that Dr Lisa had just the recipe for Wendell – a Powerhouse Smoothie Recipe!
Dr. Lisa Masterson made a drink for Wendell to try which included pineapple, spinach, broccoli, honey, fiber and a host of other ingredients. Everyone seemed to enjoy the overtly green drink, except Wendell who didn’t seem to drink very much or say anything after the taste test. Dr. Stork added that the drink was a good way to quench hunger and also added Wendell needed to think about his health ten years from. Dr. Stork said Wendell needed to do this for his wife.
The Doctors also discussed having too much sugar in your diet can be detrimental to a person’s health. By drinking water and smoothie drinks, however, a person can decrease daily calorie counts by up to 20 percent.
The Doctors: Powerhouse Smoothie Recipe
1 cup chopped spinach
1/2 cup chopped kale
1/2 a banana
1/2 a pear
1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1 cup low fat, unsweetened coconut milk
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp honey
1 tsp agave
1 tsp flaxseed oil
1 calcium liquid pill
Mix all the ingredients into the blender and the smoothie is ready to be enjoyed.
