The Doctors know it’s impossible to stifle a sweet tooth, so they welcomed nutritionist Keri Glassman, who had tricks for enjoying sweets without wrecking your diet. She said there are foods that are naturally sweet that contain nutrients that are good for you. Dr Travis Stork asked, “Keri, do you have a raisin?” and Keri said, “No, but I have a date!”

Keri explained that you can make brownies with dates instead of sugar, which means they’re just as sweet and also contain fiber, which keeps you fuller. Dates also keep you regular and the brownies taste great! Also try Keri’s recipe for Coconut Popcorn Balls.

The Drs: Date Brownie Recipe Ingredients

  • 1/2 C cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 20 Medjool dates
  • 1 C whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 stick¬†grass-fed butter
  • 3/4 C dark chocolate chips

The Drs: Date Brownie Recipe Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Spray an 8-inch baking pan with cooking spray
  3. Mix together flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, baking powder & salt
  4. Puree dates, eggs, butter & vanilla until smooth
  5. Mix wet and dry ingredients together slowly
  6. Spread batter into a pan & bake 14-16 minutes
