The Doctors October 24 2012: Peanut Butter Recall

The Doctors October 24 2012 episode will investigate the recent peanut butter recall due to findings of Salmonella.

The FDA has been checking out all of the Sunland Inc. facilities for the virus, and they found Salmonella in some of their raw peanuts. As a result, Sunland Inc. has recalled all of their peanuts and peanut products. I checked out the recall list and I was interested to see that heinen’s peanut butter was on the list – this is a grocery store chain near my hometown. Kirkland peanut butter was also on the list – I think this is the Costco brand.

The Doctors: Surprising Things With Peanuts in Them

I remember a couple years ago when peanut crops did really poorly, and it was supposed to drive the prices of peanut butter up. My mom went out and bought several jars before the prices increased. Are you a peanut butter lover? Do you like Peter Pan brand or do you choose Jif? Personally, I do not like peanut butter one bit, so I’m not too worried about this outbreak.

I wonder though if it can be a problem with foods that you wouldn’t think have peanuts in them. The Doctors said that this recent recall can affect what you pack in your kids’ lunch, from energy bars to ice cream, cookies to crackers and even your dinner.

Do you think anything that you have in your home could be contaminated? You’ll have to find out tomorrow on The Doctors.
