The Doctors TV Show: Baby Mixup: Carolyn & Sean Savage

The Doctors TV Show was centered on the theme of What To Do If It Happens To You. Carolyn Savage and Sean Savage, authors of Inconceivable: A Medical Mistake, the Baby We Couldn’t Keep, and Our Choice to Deliver the Ultimate Gift, were on The Drs TV Show to talk about the mix-up that happened when they were trying to get pregnant.  Carolyn carried baby Logan for 9 months – heard his heartbeat and felt him kick – knowing all the time that the baby was not hers.  There was an Embryo Mix-up and the wrong embryo was implanted in Carolyn Savage.

The Drs: Embryo Mixup

Carolyn Savage got a phone call from her doctor the day she went in for her pregnancy test and she was told that she was pregnant, but with another couple’s The Doctors TV Show Recapbaby.  So she knew that she would carry a baby for 9 months and give birth to a child that would leave the hospital with another family.  Carolyn and Sean will not get to raise baby Logan, in fact, he lives 150 miles north of where they live.  But Carolyn said she prays for him every day and that she has hopes and dreams for him.  Carolyn said that she does still have a relationship with Logan and that they have seen him two times since the birth – once at 3 months and once at 7 months.  In the meantime, they receive e-mail updates, photos and video clips.

Dr Lisa Masterson said that as a mother and as an ObGyn, she cannot fathom what Carolyn and Sean have had to go through.  But it is truly remarkable and praiseworthy that Carolyn and Sean choose to keep the baby and to give birth to him.  Sean said that the fertility clinic they went to has taken new measures to make sure that this does not happen again.  This obligation to future fertility patients is also what inspired them to write Inconceivable: A Medical Mistake, the Baby We Couldn’t Keep, and Our Choice to Deliver the Ultimate Gift, because they hope that no family will ever have to go through this again.
