The Drs: Pole Dancing Mom
The Doctors shared a video of a woman practicing her pole dancing moves in front of her toddler, and even involving her in some of the dancing. Critics are calling it down-right bad parenting, and the mom in the video joined The Doctors to share her side of the story. Her name is Ashley and she said she understands why people feel the way they do. She said what it comes down to is what each individual was taught is inappropriate.
Dr Rachael Ross asked if Ashley would be okay if her daughter grew up to be a stripper or a pole dancer. Ashley said she doesn’t shame strippers and she would like her daughter to be whatever it is she desires to be.
The Drs: Pole Dancing In Front Of Your Kids?
Dr Ross said the problem she has with it is that she believes encouraging young girls to be strippers and pole dancers isn’t right. Ashley said she bought the pole because she took classes and loves what it did for her and for other women in the class. She said it helps her feel understood and loves the artistic expression and giving a message through movement.
Ashley said she has an amazing bond with her daughter and her daughter sees a mother who is unapologetically herself. She said her daughter knows that she doesn’t have to hide who she is. Dr Jennifer Ashton said that as a woman and a mother of a teenage daughter, first, it’s an incredible workout, but also the message of self-esteem and comfort with her sensuality can be an empowering one.
Dr Travis Stork said he understands the uproar. Dr Ross said it’s a career choice and she doesn’t think it’s right for kids to see.
