The Doctors: Hugo Chavez Cancer Conspiracy?
The Doctors covered health-related headlines on their weekly Friday News Feed. On March 5, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez died of cancer at the age of 58 after publicly announcing his diagnosis in June of 2011. Now, the seemingly simple story has gotten a bit more complicated. It’s now being reported that close friends and family believe that someone actually conspired to infect him with cancer. Many Venezuelans, as well as the new Venezuelan President, believe that there was foul play involved in his death.
Is it possible to actually infect someone with cancer? The Doctors special guest oncologist Dr. Lawrence Piro clarified this confusing story. According to Dr. Piro, it’s not possible to inject someone with cancer cells and give them cancer. Cancer is not the same as an infection. “This story sounds like science fiction,” he said.
The Drs: Valerie Harper Terminal Cancer Diagnosis
73-year-old actress Valerie Harper, best known for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on Rhoda and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Sadly, it’s being reported that the TV icon has just three months to live. Bravely, Valerie has announced that she’s not going to focus on the end of her life, but is going to be grateful for each day that she lives.
“She’s beloved by so many,” Dr. Travis Stork said of Valerie Harper. That’s why these diagnoses are so difficult to grasp. Unfortunately, Dr. Piro has plenty of experience in dealing with terminal cancer patients. Despite bleak prognoses, he never tries to eliminate hope. The Doctors will sit down with Valerie for a very special, emotional interview on Monday, March 11 2013.
