Amber was sent to get more tests and found out that she had breast cancer. In order to treat the cancer, the baby had to be delivered early. They went to the hospital and tried to induce the labor, but the baby’s heartbeat kept dropping. The odds of survival for both mother and child were slim to none, and so The Doctors welcomed two miracles to the stage, mom Amber and her daughter Chloe. Amber said Chris is what got her through it all.

The Doctors: Mom & Baby Survived Early Birth & Cancer

Amber said her husband deserves the husband-of-the-year award. They were newlyweds, battling cancer, and also expecting a baby, so they dealt with a lot. She said her husband was practically a single parent while she was going through chemo because there were some days that she couldn’t even get out of bed. Dr Travis Stork applauded Chris “for doing what a real man does.” Dr Jennifer Ashton said that when you’re dealing with cancer in a pregnant woman, you’re taking care of two lives at once.

Amber shared that she felt guilty about delivering her baby early, and still feels guilty about missing so many of her baby’s firsts because she was going through chemo. She carried around so much guilt, but said as of January she has no evidence of disease. The Doctors then surprised the couple with a trip to Hawaii, including a hotel stay and airfare.
