The Doctors TV Show: Feed Your Face

The Drs TV Show (“Blame This Not That”) asked Dr Jessica Wu, author of Feed Your Face: Younger, Smoother Skin and a Beautiful Body in 28 Delicious Days,to give us a list of foods that are great for our skin along with a list of foods that are bad for our skin.  Dr Wu said that choosing the right foods can fight off acne, help you to avoid wrinkles and will give you glowing skin.

The Drs: Dairy Causes Acne

Dr Jessica Wu told The Doctors that if you have acne, whether it is teen acne or adult acne, you should avoid dairy products.  Why?  Because dairy products contain cow hormones that The Doctors TV Show Feed Your Facemake your body pump out more oil which clogs your pores.  Another no-no is sugar, which causes pimples and can also increase the amount of wrinkles that you get because sugar breaks down collagen in your skin.

The Doctors: Healthy Skin Pizza

Dr Travis Stork asked Dr Wu what foods she recommends for glowing skin.  She said her favorite thing to eat is pizza, but not the cheesy deep dish pizza you might be thinking of.  Instead, get a pizza made of thin whole wheat crust, topped with lots of tomato sauce, green and yellow peppers, and grilled chicken.  The green and yellow vegetables helps to fight off crows feet and wrinkles, and the chicken helps to build strong collagen that will give you firm, tight skin.

The Drs: Bloody Mary’s Good For Skin

Dr Jessica Wu said that the best drink for your skin is a Bloody Mary, although I would think that a glass of tomato juice would be just as good for you.  The reason it helps your skin is because tomatoes contain lycopene, which is an antioxidant that fights sunburn and sun damage.  Keep this in mind this summer when you go to the bar, and make Bloody Mary’s your number one drink!

The Doctors TV: Steak & Green Beans

Dr Wu gave another shocking food to make your skin glow…

she said that if you like meat, you should have a steak for dinner tonight.  Steaks are high in zinc which builds strong collagen in your skin and it also has high anti-inflammatory properties which calm down breakouts.  However, she did say to limit yourself to one-two servings per week of steak.  On the other hand, green beans you should incorporate into your diet every day because they are high in silicone which is great for growing strong hair and nails.
