The Drs: Lost Limbs After Illegal Butt Injections
The Doctors shared that Apryl Brown was one of their most memorable guests, after she shared her story of how her quest for the perfect butt left her fighting for her life. She was previously on the show and talked about how she wanted a bigger butt, so she had silicon injected. About a year later, she noticed that her butt had become incredibly hard, discolored, and painful. None of the doctors she saw wanted to help her, so by the fourth year, she was in excruciating pain and ended up with a staph infection.
She was in the hospital where they gave her 24 hours to live, and put her into an induced coma. When she awoke from the coma, she could see that her limbs were necrotic. Her hands and feet were amputated and now she’s sharing her story to keep someone else from experiencing what she did. The Doctors ended up surprising her with brand new prosthesis.
The Drs: Update On Woman Who Lost Limbs
Apryl met with A Step Head Prosthetics and was fitted for her new limbs. Everyone at A Step Ahead loved her enthusiasm and The Doctors were beyond excited to welcome her back to the show. Apryl shared that she was sent to “the Lamborghini of prosthetics.” She said they’ve changed her life and to this day, she doesn’t know how she was so lucky to get four new limbs.
The Doctors were joined by Erik Shaffer, the co-founder and CEO of A Step Ahead. Erik explained that April is a typical patient of the facility and they deal with a lot of people coming back from war. He said Apryl was an “absolutely amazing and fun person.” He said there was no way they would let her leave without being 100% complete, which is why they provided her with all four limbs, rather than just one.
The Drs: Prosthetics After Life-Threatening Infection
Apryl shared that there are so many things that we take for granted. She said she used to wear prosthetics that were hooks, and she had to wear a harness. She said it worked for her at the time, but then two weeks ago they broke, and she didn’t know how she was going to wipe after using the restroom. But she was finally able to, after three years, “have a good butt wiping.” Too funny!
Apryl is now the author of Apryl Michelle Brown: More Than A Body.
