The Drs: Look Slimmer In Prints
According to celebrity stylist Daniel Musto, it’s all about the print you’re wearing. On The Doctors, Daniel said prints can be a little overwhelming if you don’t know what’s right for you and what flatters your figure.
Daniel brought out Erin and Lydia. Lydia was wearing a white-toned flower print shirt, and Daniel explained that if you treat a white-toned print like a solid, it can accentuate your curves a little more than you might like. The white background actually widened Lydia, as opposed to Erin. Erin had the exact same proportions, but looked a lot slimmer because she was wearing a black-toned print shirt that was tucked in. Daniel said you never want to look wider than you actually are.
Daniel also suggested that you choose a pant that is the same color as the background of your print to make you look slim and sleek.
The Drs: Try Wearing Bottoms With Prints
Daniel said florals are fun, but there are a lot of prints that you have to be more careful with, because if you wear them the wrong way they can be unflattering. They welcomed Beau to the stage to show off her printed pencil skirt. She paired the high-waisted skirt with a black top. Adding a belt when you have a pattern also helps break it up and make your waist look thinner.
He explained that sometimes it’s better to wear the print as a bottom rather than a top, which can look too busy.
The Drs: How To Wear Stripes
As for how to wear stripes, Daniel explained that the horizontal stripe can cause major problems because it adds inches around your middle section. He said you shouldn’t avoid stripes altogether, though. Instead, go for striped accessories like a bag that won’t add an inch to you, or striped flats.
