The Doctors TV Show was focused on the topic of “Your Health In The Headlines” today – meaning that they covered many of the topics that are hot and controversial right now. The Drs TV Show spoke about why it becomes harder to sleep the older you get.
The Doctors: Why Is It Harder to Sleep As You Age?
The Doctors said that, as you age, you may notice that it gets harder and harder to sleep well. You may wake up in the middle of the night or just have trouble sleeping in general. Sleep becomes less satisfying as you get problems like a bad back, which makes it hard to get comfortable. If you are a man, you can get an enlarged prostate which affects your sleep. Even stress causes people to lose a good night’s sleep. How often do you wake up in the middle of the night, and all you can think about are your problems? We need to get 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep every night to be healthy. If you are chronically tired, you should reassess why you are not getting a good night’s sleep. 100,000 car accidents happened last year alone from people who were “asleep at the wheel” or, as Dr Lisa Masterson said, they have their eyes open but are really sleeping.
