Drs: Leaving Umbilical Cord Attached? + Assault With Alligator

The Doctors: Pole Dancing Fitness Class For Kids

There’s a new fitness class being offered to kids as young as 8-years-old, but it has many parents wondering if it’s truly appropriate. In England, a pole dancing fitness class is intended for children and teaches them the art of pole dancing without the sexual innuendos. Dr Andrew Ordon argued that pole dancing is a great exercise, but Dr Rachael Ross said she would never want her daughter anywhere near a pole, and Dr Jennifer Ashton agreed. Dr Ross added that she believes, in our culture, we can’t separate a pole and sexuality, while Dr Travis Stork said he believes the pole is becoming more associated with fitness nowadays.

What would you say if your child asked to take a pole dancing fitness class?

Next, The Doctors moved on to talk about a new trend that many new moms are engaging in. A handful of mothers are using a lotus-style birth, which means they’re leaving the umbilical cord attached to the placenta until the cord naturally separates at the naval days later. Advocates believe in the non-traumatic importance of a natural birth for both mother and baby, and say it ensures that the newborn receives the full amount of highly nutritious blood that’s in the cord.

The Doctors heard from a mom who used the lotus birthing process, explaining that she wanted childbirth to be as natural as possible so it made sense to her. She used the style with both her children and experienced no problems, sharing that it usually takes 3-10 days for the umbilical cord to separate, but for both her children, it took six days. She used rock salt, rose petals, and essential oils to cover up the smell of the placenta. As The Doctors shared, there’s no denying that the process is natural, but Dr Ashton argued that every mother needs to understand that when medical intervention is done appropriately, it can sometimes be life-saving.

Dr Ashton further explained that once the umbilical cord reaches room temperature, it will spasm, constrict, and stop pulsating very quickly, which means there’s no blood flow going through it.

The Doctors: Assault With An Alligator

The Doctors then lightened up the mood a bit by sharing crime stories that almost seem to bizarre to be true. First, they reported a 23-year-old man from Florida who was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. The bizarre part? The weapon was an alligator. The man threw the alligator through a fast food drive-thru window from his car. The alligator was three and a half feet long and simply having the alligator was a crime within itself! What would you do if someone threw an alligator at you?

The Doctors: Police Respond To Noises From TV Show

Next, The Doctors shared that police responded to a panicked 9-1-1 call after the person reported hearing screaming and gunshots from a nearby home. Police officers surrounded the home, only to discover that the people inside were watching the latest episode of The Walking Dead. It actually makes sense, because who wouldn’t be concerned if they heard noises like that coming from their neighbor’s residence?
