The Doctors: Real Housewive Kristen Taekman
The Doctors welcomed model, mom, entrepreneur, and former star of Real Housewives of New York, Kristen Taekman. Dr Rachael Ross asked her first why she left, and Kristen explained that it was just time for her and “all good things must come to an end.” Kristen said she had a great time and will always keep in touch with the women on the show.
Kristen then shared with The Doctors that she had high cholesterol, and had actually had it for a while, but it’s apparently the good cholesterol, although her dad has high cholesterol of the bad kind.
The Doctors explained that cholesterol is not all bad, adding that there is HDL and LDL cholesterol. LDL you want to keep low, while HDL is what you want to be high. Kristen has high levels of HDL cholesterol. If you have high levels of HDL, it picks up excess fat in your arteries, while LDL will deposit fat in your arteries leading to heart attack or stroke.
The Doctors: Eatings Eggs + High Cholesterol
Kristen said she actually cannot live without eggs, because she eats them every day, but wanted to make sure it was okay. The Doctors gave her the go-ahead to keep on eating them! As for her best beauty tips to share, Kristen said “moisturizer is huge.” She also recommended a lot of water and a lot of sleep. She doesn’t cook, but enjoys her “workout” which is actually just pushing a stroller around New York City!
The Doctors: Treatment For Severe Acne Scars
Next, The Doctors reminded everyone of a woman named Penny who had written into the show about living with painful acne scars. They were able to help finally give her hope and let her live her life again. They set her up with a plastic surgeon Dr Brian Reedy to help get her skin to where it needed to be. Penny has been receiving treatments and The Doctors were there to see how it went. You can see the procedure in the video below, noticing how much of a difference the laser treatment made. Penny said she felt amazing and her skin certainly looked much better already.
To prevent this from happening to you, take care of acne when it first starts. If your child is suffering from acne, take them to a dermatologist to get them the treatment they need.
