A few seasons ago, The Doctors shared the sad story of a heroin addict named Jessica and her mom who desperately wanted her to get the help she needed. Jessica lost her own sister to a heroin overdose, but still couldn’t give up her addiction. Jessica was 22 years old and turned into an entirely different person once she started using heroin. To get oxycodone, Jessica would fake tooth aches and had all of her teeth pulled.

Jessica’s family staged an intervention for her, hoping that she would turn her life around. After shooting up one last time in the bathroom, Jessica agreed to go to rehab. The Doctors told her that she would die of she continued down the same path, so did she do what was necessary to save her own life?

The Drs: Did Heroin User Overcome Addiction?

Dr Travis Stork shared that it’s been two years since he’s seen Jessica and he was thrilled to report that even though rehab was difficult, she overcame her addiction and is 100% drug-free. He welcomed Jessica to the show, who showed off a beautiful smile with all new teeth.

They showed before and after pictures to show how different Jessica is now. Jessica said if it wasn’t for Dr Stork and the rehab facility, she wouldn’t be there. She said rehab was incredibly difficult, but going through it and coming out strong allowed her to bring hope to her family. Her dad is also now four months sober and they’re rebuilding their relationship.

Jessica said it’s hard, but there’s a solution, so if you’re struggling, just ask for help and know you’re not alone. She said it’s possible for anyone to find the other side of addiction. Dr Stork said not only is there hope for recovery but there’s also hope for redemption, because Jessica is now changing other people’s lives.
