The Chew: Salty & Sweet Candy Corn Treats Recipe

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 C candy corn
  • 1/2 C pretzels – broken into 1/2-inch pieces
  • flaky sea salt – to garnish
  • 12 chewy caramels
  • 5 C mini marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 C crispy cereal
  • 1/2 C salted roasted peanuts
  • 1/2 C bittersweet chocolate – melted
  • cooking spray

  1. Line one baking sheet with wax paper then place the caramels two inches apart on the paper
  2. Place a large pot over medium heat and add butter
  3. Let the butter melt, then add the marshmallows and salt
  4. Stir until the marshmallows melt and become smooth
  5. Remove from the heat and add the candy corn, cereal, peanuts, and pretzels, then stir quickly to coat entirely
  6. Grease your hands and large spoons with cooking spray, then scoop 1/4 C of the cereal marshmallow mixture on top of the caramels, and use your hands to shape them into mounds (let the caramel act as a “surprise” inside)
  7. Flatten the mounds a little then repeat and let the cereal treats set
  8. Once set, drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle with flaky sea salt
