The Chew: Ginger Brown Sugar Soy Glazed Salmon Recipe

Clinton Kelly’s Ginger Brown Sugar Soy Glazed Salmon is a flavorful and healthy dinner recipe you can prepare in no time. (amyselleck / Flickr)

For the Salmon:

  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger – peeled, minced
  • 1/4 C apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 C soy sauce
  • 4 salmon fillets – 4-oz each, skin off
  • 1 garlic clove – peeled, minced
  • 3 scallions – finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp dark brown sugar

For the Carrot & Apple Salad:

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3 medium carrots – peeled, sliced into thin matchsticks
  • 2 scallions – sliced thin
  • 1 tbsp roasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Gala apple – sliced into thin matchsticks
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

  1. Prepare the oven to 450 degrees
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with aluminum foil
  3. In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, add the toasted sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and scallions and toast to fragrant
  4. Then add the apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and dark brown sugar
  5. Simmer until reduced by 1/4, approximately 5-7 minutes
  6. Puree the mixture in a blender until smooth
  7. Put the salmon fillets onto the foil-lined baking sheet
  8. Spoon the glaze over each fillet
  9. Put into the oven for 8-10 minutes

For the Carrot & Apple Salad:

  1. In a medium bowl, add the apple cider vinegar, sesame seeds, and olive oil
  2. Whisk to combine, then add the scallions, apples, and carrots
  3. Season with salt and pepper
