The Chew: Tuna Noodle Casserole Recipe

Remember when you were a kid and your mother made you that one dish that was absolutely terrible? Everyone likes to reminisce about the good old days of their mother’s cooking, but the truth is, even if we loved 90 percent of what our parents made for us, we still all had a dish that our parents put in front of us that we didn’t like. Depending on the kind of parents you had, you might have had to eat it anyway or you didn’t eat.

My mother was that last type of parent and the recipe she made that I hated was Tuna Noodle Casserole. To this day, I still don’t like tuna. But it’s understandable why someone would make a Tuna Noodle Casserole: it’s easy, it uses low-cost ingredients, and you can make an awful lot of it relatively quickly. That means that somewhere out in the universe, many parents are putting Tuna Noodle Casserole on the dinner table and kids just like I was are being forced to eat it.

Speaking of providing food for our families, there’s nothing easier than a freezable meal. You can make it in advance, pop in the freezer, and bring it out later in the week. Particularly for single, working parents (like my mother was), these types of dishes are key.

That’s why The Chew is all about freezable meals, giving you some delicious takes on some old favorites. Tune into The Chew on February 24, 2015, to find all sorts of great recipes!
