The Chew: What Not To Wear Oscar Edition
To help viewers recreate glamorous red carpet looks of the stars, Clinton Kelly asked his What Not To Wear co-hosts, makeup expert Carmindy and hairstylist Ted Gibson. They helped three Chew viewers recreate red carpet fashions. Get their belt advice and learn the latest trends with the smokey eye makeup technique.
Helen Mirren once wore a timeless Badgley Mischka dress in Clinton’s favorite photo, which showed that you can look elegant at any age. Audience member Linda was transformed into fashionable glam.
The Chew: Teri Jon Dress Review & Carmindy Makeup
She wore a Teri Jon dress, and Clinton said that getting a professional bra fitting will have an effect on your entire silhouette. Ted Gibson said that you should have your hair at an age-appropriate length. Hair color can also affect skin tone and complexion, Gibson said, recommending highlights and lowlights for all ages, depending on the look you are going for.
Carmindy said she used a champagne shimmer to make Linda’s cheekbones glow. Her goal is to highlight the planes of your face using makeup. You can also highlight under brows and the inner eye areas to keep looking great at any age.
Linda said that she felt 10 years younger after her makeover.
The Chew: BCBG Dress, Smokey Eye & ‘60s Updo Hairstyles
To recreate Zoe Saldana red carpet look, Clinton recruited Jebony from the audience. Her after picture featured a BCBG dress with simple accessories and great details. Ted said that he did a dramatic updo for Jebony, recreating the ‘60s hairstyles that are coming back into fashion.
For makeup, Carmindy recommended a smokey eye effect with a lighter lip shade to create color gradation in the overall makeup effect. Jewel tones are the new trend in the smokey eye makeup technique.
The Chew: How To Wear A Belt
To remake a Dior ball gown worn by Jennifer Lawrence, The Chew made over audience member Carly. She showed up with a beaming smile and she even looked a lot like Jennifer Lawrence in her Coast dress.
Clinton said that it’s important to wear your belt around the narrowest part of your waist. This look used big curls to create volume in Carly’s soft waves of hair. You can always use the Hollywood secret of hair extensions for length as well as volume.
Carmindy said any woman can pull of the classic red lip look, but you have to find the right shade for your skin. Choose a medium tone for fair skin, fire engine for medium skin, and blood red for a darker skin tone.
You can test the shade of your red on a white piece of paper before applying it to your lips. These sound like some doable tips that anyone can pull off for a fancy night out.
