Steve Harvey: Travel Mom Spring Break Destination & Fried Gator Recipe

On March 28 2013, Steve Harvey got spring break destination tips from Travel Mom.

Dr Elizabeth Lomabardo has this situation covered. A husband and wife aren’t sure if they should have another child. The husband says he’s good with one child, but the wife has a desire for more. She said the first thing they should do is talk about their marriage. Is their relationship strong enough to support a second child and withstand the stress and change? They should take time to figure out if they are happy enough to have a second child. A happy parent makes a better parent, she said.

Steve Harvey: Spring Break Destinations

Travel Mom Emily Kaufman breaks down the three top vacation spots for families. Florida is obviously the most popular. Great weather, theme parks, the beach, what’s not to love? She recommends The Tradewinds Resort for it’s JET-LEV water jet pack.

For the families that like to explore, the Caribbean is a fun option. You can go kayaking, to fish frys or festivals for the kids. If your kids are grown or away at college, you could also take an adult vacation. Travel Mom recommends Las Vegas. It has a different type of adventure. There is no limit to what you can do in Las Vegas. You can ride roller coasters, attend a show or concert, or even drive a real NASCAR.

Steve Harvey: Fried Gator

While Swamp People enjoy getting their gators, a lot of people don’t have gator in their daily diet. If you’re feeling up to a special occasion, Steve got a few gator recipes.

Swamp People Fried Gator Ingredients:

  • 2 pound tenderized alligator meat, cut in bite size pieces
  • 1 cup Swamp People Lousiana “Critter” marinade
  • oil for frying
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Swamp People Fried Gator Directions:

Combine the alligator and marinade in a large plastic bag and refrigerate to marinate. Pour the oil in a large skillet to 1 inch deep and heat to 350. Combine cornmeal, flour, garlic powder, black and cayenne pepper and salt in a large plastic bag. Drain the meat and add in batches to the cornmeal bag. Shake until well coated and fry for 3 min, or until golden brown. Sit the meat on a paper towel to drain.

For a sauce to serve with the fried gator, combine 1 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup spicy brown mustard, 2 tbsp prepared horseradish, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar, 1 1/2 tsp creole seasoning. This makes a special dipping sauce for your Swamp People grub.
