Steve Harvey: Pound Fitness Workout Routine
The Pound Fitness Workout was started by Los Angeles fitness and drummer enthusiasts Cristina Peerenboom and Kirsten Potenza. What makes this workout stand out from the sea of other routines that claim to get you ripped is the way in which you work out. Instead of picking up weights or moving your butt in a Zumba class, the Pound Fitness Workout gives you two weighted drumsticks called “Ripstix” and has you drumming like a rockstar while you burn calories and shed weight.
Over the course of an hour long class, Peerenboom and Potenza claim that you can burn as much as 900 calories. While you may wonder how this could be accomplished by banging on the ground and in the air with 1-pound drum sticks, the duo says that this workout allows you to coordinate your body with both sound and motion, something they say is absent from many modern day workout routines.
I have never tried it, and being in personal training at one point, I have seen many of these workout fads come and go, so I can’t really speak for or against it, but they’ve definitely got me wondering just what the heck it looks like.
