Rachael Ray: Mitt + Ann Romney Family Cookbook

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann Romney, spent some time in the kitchen with Rachael Ray and showed off a Sweet Pork Burritos Recipe from their new cookbook, The Romney Family Table. You can try it out here.

The best part, as far as I’m concerned, is the Crock Pot aspect, because it’s easy to throw everything together. Mitt said he does the dishes on Sundays when Ann cooks a big family meal.

Mitt & Ann Romney: Rachael Ray Sweet Pork Burritos Recipe

  1. To make the pork, put the roast in a slow cooker.
  2. Combine the other pork ingredients in a blender to create a sauce.
  3. Since you are only using the Adobo Sauce, Ann’s advice is to pour the Dr Pepper over the Adobo in a strainer to get all the sauce out.
  4. Pour the sauce over your roast and slow cook on high for five hours or on low for eight hours.
  5. Remove pork and pull it apart. Return it to the sauce and heat it up before serving.
  6. Spoon the pork onto tortillas or serve it over salad. You can top it with the other suggested additions from the show.

Guacamole Directions

  1. Combine ingredients, except Red Pepper, mashing them together using a fork or masher.
  2. You can leave some of the avocado chunky depending on your texture preference.
  3. Sprinkle in the diced red pepper.
  4. If you are making it in advance, leave a couple avocado pits in the mix to prevent browning.

Salsa Fresca Directions

  1. Mix tomatoes with onions, bell peppers, and jalapenos in a bowl.
  2. Add chopped cilantro and salt to taste.
  3. Squeeze lime juice into the bowl.
  4. Let chill for one hour and stir before serving.

Cilantro-Lime Rice Directions

  1. Bring rice and water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Cover and turn heat to low, cooking 20 minutes.
  3. Take off heat.
  4. Add cilantro, salt, lime zest and juice.
  5. Stir to mix well before serving.
