As usual, he and his wife were dressed up for Halloween and made a peculiar yet adorable pair while working together in the kitchen. John explained that he wanted to not only share a cocktail recipe, but a recipe that could easily be made kid-friendly. Whether you add in the booze or keep it alcohol-free, this is one drink you’ll want to sip on all night long.

  • 1 C cranberry juice
  • bundle of sage, bay leaves, and rosemary
  • 1 orange – sliced
  • pear or regular brandy
  • sliced pear and fresh cranberries – to garnish
  • 3 C apple cider
  • 1 C pear juice
  • 5 all spice berries
  • 1 lemon – sliced
  • 1 bottle red wine (Barbera, if possible)


Rachael Ray: John’s Mulled Autumn Punch Recipe Directions

  1. Heat all the ingredients in a medium saucepan
  2. Use a spider to remove all the solid ingredients before you serve the cocktails
  3. For an adults-only version: pour one shot of brandy into a mug or goblet and gently roll around to coat the sides before filling halfway with hot cider, then top with the red wine
  4. For a kid-friendly version: ladle the hot cider into a goblet or mug, then garnish with pear slices and cranberries before serving
  5. Carefully stir, garnish, then serve
