Rachael Ray’s 5-ingredient Roast Broccolini or Broccoli Rabe with Sausages is another easy to make, healthy and flavorful meal for the whole family. (scaredykat / Flickr)

Pantry Essentials:

  • extra-virgin olive oil
  • garlic
  • salt and pepper

For the 5-Ingredient Dinner:

  • 2-3 red finger chilies
  • 2 lbs Italian sweet or hot sausages
  • 3 bunches broccolini or 1 large bunch rapini/broccoli rabe
  • 2 large or 6 small shallots
  • balsamic drizzle or balsamic vinegar

  1. If using broccolini, cut off the ends and halve the larger stalks. If using rabe, trim and blanch in salted, boiling water for 2 minutes, then cold-shock, drain, then pat dry
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  3. Halve the chile peppers lengthwise, then peel, halve and thinly slice the shallots lengthwise
  4. Crack, peel, and slice the 4 large cloves of garlic
  5. On a large rimmed baking sheet, combine the broccolini or rapini with the chile peppers, garlic, shallots, about 3 tbsp to 1/4 C extra-virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper
  6. Arrange the sausages on top, then roast for 25 minutes or until the casings are browned and the juices run clear
  7. Drizzle the pan with Balsamic then serve
