Live With Kelly: Grilling with the Stars

On “Live With Kelly” July 23, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino appeared on Grilling with the Stars. The popular segment features various celebrities, who teach the hosts and viewers one of their favorite summer grilling recipe. At the end of the summer, the recipe with the most votes will win $25,000 for the charity of the celebrity’s choice, plus the coveted “Mirror Weiner” trophy– not to mention bragging rights!

All summer long, we’ve learned some great summer recipes from a host of stars: first, “Melissa & Joey” star Joey Lawrence shared his healthy Fish Tacos. Then, we learned a healthy vegan dish from actress Marilu Henner, and “Sister Act” star Raven-Symone made Divine Honey Lime Grilled Tuna. Singer Ashanti stopped by to make Pineapple Chicken Skewers. Caroline Manzo from the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” taught the hosts how to make her famous Short Rib Sliders. Lastly, actresses Kristen Johnson and Carla Gugino both appeared with recipes for Summer Steak Salad and Chipotle Mahi-Mahi, respectively.

Summer Grilled Chicken with Avocado Salsa Recipe

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino shared his recipe for Summer Grilled Chicken with Avocado Salsa on "Live With Kelly."

On “Live With Kelly” July 23, “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino made a quick change to his busy schedule: instead of Gym, Tan, Laundry, Mike practiced Grill, Tan Laundry! He shared his mom’s famous recipe for Summer Grilled Chicken with Avocado Salsa with the hosts, and competed for the Intrepid Fallen Soldier charity. Let’s get started on Mike’s delicious and easy summer dish:

Ingredients for Marinade:

  • 1/2 Cup White Wine
  • Olive Oil blended with minced garlic
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce

Ingredients for Avocado Salsa:

  • 2 ripe Avocados
  • 1 diced Tomato
  • 1/2 Cup Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 small can or Fresh Corn
  • 1/2 Chopped Red Onion
  • 1/4 Cup chopped Cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil


  1. Place the chicken breast in the marinade, which you have already mixed together into a bowl. Let sit in refrigerator for 45-60 minutes, covered.
  2. Place chicken on the grill and cook until nice and golden on the outside.
  3. Mix all of your salsa ingredients together in another bowl to create the salsa.
  4. When chicken is done, plate and top with the fresh salsa.
