Grilling with the Stars: Short Rib Sliders Recipe

Grilling with the Stars is a popular “Live With Kelly” summer segment, which continued on July 6. All summer long on the series, celebrities will teach viewers one of their favorite grill recipes, and then the recipe with the most votes will win $25,000 for the charity of their choice.

On the first installment, “Melissa & Joey” star Joey Lawrence shared his healthy summer Fish Tacos. Then, we learned a healthy vegan dish from actress Marilu Henner, and “Sister Act” star Raven-Symone made Divine Honey Lime Grilled Tuna. Finally, singer Ashanti made Pineapple Chicken Skewers.

On “Live With Kelly” July 6, “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Caroline Manzo dropped by with her recipe for Short Rib Sliders. She is playing on behalf of the Wounded Warrior Project. Caroline has starred as a “Real Housewife” with her husband, Albert, and their three children for four seasons. She is known for her trademark wit, wisdom, and of course, great cooking!

To make the sliders, begin with Caroline’s recipe for short ribs, which was actually originated by her husband, Albert. First, make a sauce of minced garlic, tomato paste, red wine, and beef broth. Let it reduce over a flame. Then, add the sauce to beef short ribs, then add celery, onions, and carrot. Cover the beef and let it cook down for 3 hours on the grill or in the oven.

When the short ribs are done cooking, you can then get started on the barbecue sauce, and finally, assemble your sliders!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Tomato Paste
  • 1 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Molasses
  • 1 cup White Vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. Salt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. Corn Starch
  • 2 tsp. Smoke Flavor
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire’s Sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder

Directions

  1. Combine the barbecue sauce ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
  2. Take your cooked short ribs and begin shredding the meat into a bowl. When the barbecue sauce is done, add it to the bowl of shredded meat and mix well.
  3. Your meat is done, so now all that’s left is to build your slider. Caroline likes to top her sandwich with coleslaw and a pickle. Voila! You’re ready to eat.

    There weren’t any amounts listed to the ingredients that are used to cook the short ribs . Amount of Garlic,Tomatoe paste, red wine and beef broth, celery, onions and carrot. Thank you
