Hillbilly Handfishin’ & Olivia Munn: Live With Kelly August 21 2012 Recap

Live With Kelly August 21 2012

Joel McHale returned to Live With Kelly August 21 2012 as guest co-host, with a look back at some interviews featured earlier this summer. After catching up on recent events, Joel and Kelly looked back at their conversations with Zach Galifinakis, Olivia Munn, and the stars of Hillbilly Handfishin’. Check out the highlights from Live With Kelly August 21 2012.

Live With Kelly: Joel McHale Break Dancing

Joel McHale, star of Community and host of The Soup, returned as Kelly Ripa’s co-host. Though he break danced on his way to the host desk, he said he has no actual talent or training in dance. Kelly and Joel wondered whether it’s risky to learn to spin on your head as a break dancer.

“Early onset male pattern baldness must happen,” Joel suggested. Kelly said her daughter takes break dancing classes, learning moves like Baby Freeze.

After a previous co-hosting appearance, a viewer wrote in with a question for Joel: “Have people ever asked you if you’re related to Kiefer Sutherland?” Kelly held up a picture of Kiefer Sutherland next to Joel’s face, but they don’t look that much alike. Kiefer starred in the popular Fox drama 24 and currently appears in Touch.

Joel McHale: Expensive Brandy – $7,000 Per Glass

Joel’s assistant Lauren arrived late with Joel’s Starbucks order and was embarrassed to appear on camera. In other beverage news, Kelly shared the story of a man who order two $7,000 glasses of Brandy. But after ordering, he accidentally dropped the bottle, which racked up a bill of $77,000.

“Who orders a $7,000 glass of Brandy?” Kelly wondered.

“A major a-hole,” Joel suggested.

Joel recalled another situation where a fellow restaurant customer argued with the maitre’d. The customer complained that he had mis-ordered wine, receiving a $4,500 bottle instead of the $200 bottle he had intended. Not only that, he ordered two bottles! But apparently the restaurant agreed that the man would pay for one of the bottles, meaning he got a free expensive bottle of wine.

“I don’t think wine should cost more than $7,” Kelly said. “Am I wrong?”

Kelly said that box wine is just as good for a fraction of the price.

Kelly Ripa: Summer Mosquito Bites

If you’re noticing an uptick in mosquito bites, that’s because the heat makes bugs more interested in mating. Kelly shared a story about “extra frisky” bugs in nature. Joel said that he gets bit often, but his wife never does. Kelly said she rarely gets bug bites either.

Kelly said that she once learned that anxious people emit something that repels bugs, and she believes she’s a very anxious person.

What boy band was Nick Lachey a member of?

Zach Galifinakis: The Campaign, The Hangover 3 & Beer Weight Loss Secret

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Vegas, Zach Galifinakis confirmed to Kelly and Joel that production is getting started on The Hangover 3, following the success of The Hangover and its sequel. This summer, though, you can see Zach in The Campaign, and he talked with the co-hosts about how he created the character of Marty Huggins, based on the Effeminate Racist. Plus, find out how beer was part of Zach’s weight loss plan.
