New Co-Host Michael Strahan Joins Live with Kelly
So what if it was TV’s worst-kept secret? After months of searching and dozens of guest tryouts, new co-host Michael Strahan was finally unveiled in an emotional host chat.
Why Michael? “Michael’s chemistry with Kelly was off the charts, and continued to grow each time he visited the show,” executive producer Michael Gelman said in a press release about the day’s big announcement. There’s more chemistry to come as the two get into their regular groove this fall.
Kelly and Michael also looked back on a 2008 clip that seems to have eerily predicted Michael’s spot as Regis’s replacement.
Kelly & Michael: Homeland’s Claire Danes Is Pregnant
The pair’s first guest as an official duo was Homeland star Claire Danes. Though she isn’t showing too much, she did admit that her pregnancy will factor into the show this season, in a 21st century way. Editors will digitally remove her growing baby bump from the season’s later episodes, since the pregnancy will not become a part of the Homeland storyline.
American Idol’s Phillip Phillips Dedicates “Home” To Michael Strahan
Phillip Phillips made his long-awaited appearance on Live, after surgery forced him to postpone on Kelly back in May 2012. He talked about how he has spent his summer and the medical issue that kept him away earlier in the year. Then he shared a special acoustic performance of his hit “Home,” dedicated to new co-host Michael Strahan, who will be making himself at home in Live‘s studio over the coming weeks.
Kelly & Michael: US Olympic Gymnasts Jordyn Wieber and Aly Raisman
This summer’s Olympics were a huge hit on TV and social media, and the women’s gymnastics team did a great job of representing the USA. Medalists Aly Raisman and Jordyn Wieber talked about their busy schedules, which include presenting at the MTV Video Music Awards and hitting the road with a Kellogg’s tour that could be coming to your city. Then they faced off against each other and the new co-hosting team in a fun morning challenge.
