Live With Kelly: Joss Stone “The Soul Sessions Vol. 2”
British singer-songwriter Joss Stone has been entertaining the world for over a decade. She began her career at just fifteen, after winning an English talent competition. Although just 25 years old, Joss is known for her mature, soulful voice, and her unique contralto vocal range. Joss is influenced by the soul music of the 1960s and 1970s, and cites artists such as Aretha Franklin and Dusty Springfield as her inspirations.
Joss has traveled the world as a performer and has sold over eleven million albums. Her 2003 debut release, The Soul Sessions, was met with both critical and commercial acclaim.
After winning both BRIT and Grammy awards and becoming one of the best-selling singers of her generation, Joss is now releasing a follow-up to her debut, The Soul Sessions Volume 2. The album features eleven covers of classic soul songs.
Joss Stone: “The High Road” Performance
On “Live With Kelly” August 1, Joss appeared to sing a song off of her new album, “The High Road.” In her signature, classic soul style, Joss impressed both the hosts and the audience with her sophisticated sound.
Joss has many tattoos, and showed off a few of them to Nick and Kelly, who joined her after her performance. Kelly and Nick complimented her talent, and Kelly told Joss that she wished she could be her.
Joss said, “okay, let’s switch and see what happens!” I’m not so sure about that, though. We all love Kelly, but I don’t think that singing comes as naturally to her as to Joss– maybe we’ll let Nick handle that instead.
