Lazaro Arbos Eliminated From American Idol
22-year-old Lazaro Arbos was the last man standing on American Idol until his shocking elimination during last week’s results show. Unfortunately, judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj declined to use their one save on the talented young singer. Ironically, judge Randy Jackson was guest co-host on Live! with Kelly & Michael when Lazaro appeared. So was their reunion an awkward one? Read on to find out!
Lazaro Arbos: Robbie Williams “Angels” Cover
After re-living Lazaro’s elimination with a clip from American Idol, the young singer took the stage to perform a beautifully-sung rendition of “Angels.” The song was originally performed by British pop star Robbie Williams.
Lazaro Arbos: First Time In New York City
Later, Kelly Ripa and Randy Jackson joined Lazaro on stage. The 22-year-old from Naples, Florida had never been to New York City before and had never even been on an airplane until he joined the cast of American Idol as a contestant.
Another cool “first” for Lazaro is that he’s never been to a concert before, so his very first will be his own show on the upcoming American Idol tour. How many people can say that their very first concert was their own?
Randy Jackson: Lazaro Arbos Is an “Inspiration”
If you’ve watched American Idol this season, then you know that Lazaro speaks with a stutter that only goes away when he’s singing. Randy called Lazaro an “inspiration” and revealed that the young singer has a big heart.
Finally, Randy asked if Lazaro believes the judges were a little too harsh on him. Lazaro did admit that they may have been a little harsh! Kelly definitely agreed.
See the remaining contestants duke it out on American Idol, which airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
