Live With Kelly: James Morrison Performance
James Morrison is a 27-year-old British singer-songwriter originally from Rugby, Warwickshire, England. He is a BRIT-award winning artist (the BRIT Awards are like the British Grammys) who has been singing and playing guitar since he was very young.
He first achieved success with his debut single, “You Give Me Something,” from his first album Undiscovered back in 2006, which was met with much critical acclaim. During its first week of release, Undiscovered topped the UK Albums Chart. James Morrison has now released his third album, The Awakening, and today he sang a song from the new LP, “I Won’t Let You Go.”
James Morrison: “I Won’t Let You Go” from The Awakening
James Morrison sounded fantastic on the Live With Kelly stage, impressing Kelly and Sam as well as the audience with his soulful ballad, “I Won’t Let You Go.” Morrison is influenced by artists such as Otis Redding, Van Morrison and Al Green. He claims that his signature comes from a case of whooping cough that he suffered as a baby. The songs on The Awakening are inspired by events that have recently affected his personal life, including becoming a father.
