Rachel Weisz: “The Constant Gardener”
The lovely Rachel Weisz joined Kelly and Chris on “Live With Kelly” July 31, and admitted that it had been six years since she has appeared on the show. The last time Rachel stopped by, she was promoting her 2005 film The Constant Gardener. For her role as activist Tessa Quayle, Rachel was awarded an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe Award in the Best Supporting Actress category. Kelly complimented Rachel’s performance, and said that she was very deserving of all the accolades and attention she received.
Rachel Weisz: Olympic Opening Ceremony
Rachel is married to fellow British actor Daniel Craig, known for his role as James Bond. Daniel had one of the most buzzed- about roles in the Olympic Opening ceremonies alongside the Queen herself in their “007” skit. However, that wasn’t the only reason Rachel loved the Opening Ceremonies.
As a native Londoner, Rachel said that she found the Opening Ceremonies very emotional, especially in the beginning. All of the hymns that were sung by the children were English hymns that she used to sing as a child herself. Rachel said that the Opening Ceremonies really “captured what it means to be British.”
Rachel Weisz: American Citizen
Rachel is very proud to be English, but she recently became an American citizen as well. She said that she had to study very hard to pass the test, which is very challenging. It was multiple choice, which she found tricky. She also gained an American driver’s license when she took her driver’s test in New York.
Rachel Weisz: “The Bourne Legacy”
Rachel’s latest role is in The Bourne Legacy, an action film also starring Jeremy Renner, Joan Allen, Edward Norton and Albert Finney. The film is a continuation of the popular Bourne series, which originally starred Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. Jeremy Renner has replaced Matt Damon as new character Aaron Cross, and Rachel is his leading lady, Marta Shearling.
Rachel loved working with Jeremy Renner, which was good to know, because they had a ton of very dangerous action scenes together. Just about a week ago, Jeremy confessed to Rachel that one of the high-speed motorcycle chase scenes that they had to perform was the scariest stunt of his life, because he wasn’t just responsible for his own life, but hers. This elicited a big “awww!” from the ladies of the audience. Rachel said that Jeremy is very chivalrous, and called him her “knight in shining armor.”
Kelly, Chris and Rachel watched another exciting, high-speed chase scene from The Bourne Legacy between Rachel and Jeremy. Don’t miss the two in action when The Bourne Legacy opens in theaters on August 10 2012.
