Kristen Stewart: Cannes Film Festival
Kristen Stewart is a very accomplished actress for her young 22 years. Beginning her career as a child with films like Panic Room with Jodie Foster, she is well known for playing the character of Bella Swan in the blockbuster Twilight films. Not so well known is Kristen Stewart’s Red Carpet Sneakers ritual. Her latest film is the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, which also stars Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.
Kristen came out to join Kelly and Mike Greenberg and revealed that she had just returned from the Cannes Film Festival. It was her first time attending the festival. Kelly wanted to know if it was overwhelming, and Kristen said that it was, but she felt so comfortable around all of her co-stars.
She was promoting her next film, On the Road, which is based on the classic novel by Jack Kerouac and stars Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund. They all had a huge party after the premiere.
Kristen Stewart: Red Carpet Sneakers
Kelly pulled out a copy of the tabloid magazine US Weekly, which she jokingly referred to as her “bible.” She showed the cameras a spread of photos featuring Kristen, highlighting her bizarre red carpet ritual: after arriving in heels, she often changes into sneakers while talking to the press and fans. She has someone carry the sneakers for her until she is ready to change. Mike said that he would enjoy it if someone carried his shoes for him.
Kelly pointed out how uncomfortable heels can be after a while, once you’ve been walking in them and your feet start to swell. Kristen said that with sneakers, she can get to more of “these guys,” and she pointed to a cluster of fans seated in the audience. They all had signs and went crazy when Kristen pointed them out, practically bursting into tears. “That’s so great… and so upsetting” Kelly said.
Mike proposed a plan in which he and Kristen track down and punch the fourteen women ahead of her on the Maxim Hot 100 list, and Kristen agreed whole-heartedly.
Kristen Stewart: Snow White and the Huntsman
Directed by Rupert Sanders, Kristen’s latest film, Snow White and the Huntsman, is a dark, non-tradition spin on the classic fairy tale. Kelly brought up a story to Kristen about a time during filming when she Punched Chris Hemsworth in the face. When Kelly asked, “why would you do such a thing?” Kristen joked, “he’s too pretty.” She revealed that the punch was an accident, but it worked well in the scene.
Kelly wondered if Kristen actually auditions for parts anymore, or if she is now too famous. Kristen said that she both enjoys and prefers the traditional auditioning and waiting process. This way, she doesn’t have to prove herself once she gets onto the set. She likes to be given roles for the right reasons.
Charlize Theron Vs Kristen Stewart: Snow White and the Hunstman
Kelly said that if she were a casting director, and had to think of an actress to play Snow White, Kristen would pop right into her head. She especially liked the contrast between Kristen and Charlize Theron, who plays the evil Queen Ravenna. Mike jokingly asked if Kristen punched Charlize in the face, too. The dynamic between their characters were very interesting to Kristen, and she worked hard to impress Charlize during filming (she is an Oscar winner, after all).
Kristen, Kelly, and Mike watched a clip from the film, in which Kristen and Chris are captured by the seven dwarves. Snow White then reveals to them her true identity, and all the while, Kristen is hanging upside down by a rope. Kelly said, “you know when you know you’re pretty? When you’re hanging upside down, and you’re still pretty!”
Snow White and the Huntsman opens in theaters June 1 2012.
