Josh Henderson: “Popstars” Winner
Josh Henderson joined Kelly and Joel on “Live With Kelly” July 26. Josh is known as an actor now, but as Kelly pointed out, he actually got his star as a singer on the reality competition show “Popstars.” Josh won the competition back in 2001. Up until that point, he had planned on becoming a professional baseball player.
On a whim, he decided to audition for “Popstars” when he saw the line of people waiting for their turn while on vacation in San Francisco. Kelly actually had a clip of Josh and the “Popstars” singing group, Scene 23, from a December 2001 appearance on “Live With Kelly.” Josh was 19 at the time– it was quite a blast from the past! He said, “I never thought I would see that again!”
Josh is still singing, and he said that some of his music will be featured on “Dallas” in season 2.
Josh Henderson: John Ross Ewing in “Dallas”
The original “Dallas” was a cultural phenomenon that had America glued to the television from 1978-1991. Now, “Dallas” is back and better than ever. The show features Josh along with Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo and Brenda Strong, plus original cast members Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and Larry Hagman. Josh plays John Ross Ewing, the scheming son of the villainous J.R.
Josh, who is actually from Dallas, said that he knew it would be tough to impress both the critics and the original fans. However, as Kelly pointed out, he’s done it!
Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe
Kelly mentioned that Josh and his co-star, Jesse Metcalfe, have crossed paths many times before working together on “Dallas.” Josh originally auditioned for John the Gardener on “Desperate Housewives,” the role that eventually made Jesse famous. However, two seasons later, Josh came back to the show as the bad boy nephew of Nicollette Sheridan’s character, Edie Britt. “Dallas” cast member Brenda Strong also starred on “Desperate Houswives,” as Mary Alice Young.
Josh, Joel and Kelly watched a clip from “Dallas” of John Ross and J.R. becoming embroiled in the drama at Southfork Ranch– not much has changed on “Dallas!” Catch the new series on TNT, Wednesday nights at 9 PM.
