When Jeremy joined Kelly & Michael, Kelly couldn’t help but profess what a fan she is of Jeremy’s work. She also added, “but, you must get that all the time.” Jeremy revealed, actually not. He spends most of his time with his family, who keep him very humble and grounded.

Jeremy has a son, Max, who is also an actor. Max just finished filming a movie called The Host. Acting in films would be a big deal to most other families, but Max says that for his parents, “it’s like he just came home from the bank!” Kelly wanted to know if Max inherited Jeremy’s great, deep speaking voice; Jeremy replied, “if he keeps smoking, he will.”

According to Jeremy, that’s the true magic of being an actor. It’s incredible to be able to fully absorb yourself into a character that you are otherwise, nothing like at all. Once, when Kelly was watching the film on television, her son came into the room and said “that man sounds just like Scar!” In fact, Jeremy was the voice of Scar in The Lion King.

Jeremy Irons: “The Borgias”

On television, Jeremy stars in the popular Showtime series The Borgias, a historical drama set in Europe at the turn of the 16th Century. Kelly wanted to know, how does Jeremy like a television schedule vs a film schedule?

Jeremy said that it’s pretty much the same long, strenuous filming schedule; the only difference is that in a film, it’s usually over in a few months. With a series, you return again and again to the same character. On the show, Jeremy plays the Pope, and Kelly was glad to hear that he doesn’t wear anything underneath his elaborate costumes. How very un-Holy!

Jeremy Irons: The Words Interview

Jeremy’s latest film project is The Words, a drama that also stars Bradley Cooper, Dennis Quaid, Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde. Jeremy explained that the film is about a struggling writer, played by Bradley Cooper, who finds an old manuscript and passes it off as his own. Jeremy plays the manuscript’s original author, who returns after the novel is published.

Jeremy had great things to say about his co-star Bradley Cooper. He said that when you work with a great actor, the whole movie-making process becomes a real pleasure.

Michael asked Jeremy if he would ever consider writing a book of his own, about his own life and experiences. Jeremy admitted that he’s been asked, but he doesn’t think it’s a good idea to spill all of his secrets. It would upset too many people!

Jeremy, Kelly, and Michael watched a clip of The Words featuring Jeremy and Bradley. To see he great Jeremy Irons in action, go see The Words, which is in theaters now.
