Gary Oldman: Runway Walk

On “Live With Kelly” July 17, Kelly and Josh welcomed one of acting’s greatest talents, Gary Oldman. Gary is known for his wide variety of diverse, critically-acclaimed roles, but who knew he was such a fashionist-o? Kelly and Josh complimented his stylish outfit, and Gary revealed that he had recently walked the runway in Milan for Italian fashion house Prada.

When Kelly asked if Gary had a good runway walk, music began to play. That could only mean one thing: it was time for Gary to strut his stuff. He got up and did so, and then Kelly had a turn. Then Josh performed his walk, which unfortunately, was considerably less stylish.

Gary Oldman: Oscar Nomination for “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”

Despite Gary’s prolific career, his first Academy Award nomination came just last year, for the espionage thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.  The film also starred Academy Award winner Colin Firth. Kelly expressed shock that the nomination was his very first.

Gary explained that Oscar nominations are not really something that he ever thinks about. He said that in order to receive nominations like that, an actor has to “sell himself like a product” by going to parties, events, etc. Gary lives a fairly quiet life, and tries to stay out of the lime light. He doesn’t even have a publicist. As Josh said, “with a runway walk like that, who needs one?”

Gary Oldman: James Gordon in “The Dark Knight Rises”

Next up, Gary is reprising his role as James Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises, the sequel to 2008’s The Dark Knight. The highly anticipated summer blockbuster also stars Christian Bale as Batman, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, and Tom Hardy as the villainous Bane.

The movie will surely make big bucks at the box office, so Kelly wondered, how much of that will go to Gary? He joked, “not nearly enough.” Gary explained that The Dark Knight Rises may not be the final Batman film ever made, but it is definitely the last one that will feature director Christopher Nolan.

Gary, Kelly and Josh watched a clip of Gary and co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt from the film. Don’t miss Gary and the rest of the amazing cast when The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters Friday, July 20 2012.
