Chris Rock: Grown Ups with Adam Sandler
Chris Rock is one of America’s favorite comedians, having starred (like Andy) on “Saturday Night Live” for several seasons, as well as in many successful comedy films throughout the years. He is also known for his hilarious (and inappropriate) stand-up. Chris joined Andy and Kelly to promote his upcoming animated film, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, where he reprises his role as Marty the Zebra.
When Chris sat down with the hosts today, he pointed to Andy and joked, “You look great, Regis!” Chris actually just saw Andy’s new film, That’s My Boy, in which he plays Adam Sandler’s son. Kelly pointed out that, when Chris filmed Grown Ups with Adam a few years ago, Adam gave him (and the whole main cast) the gift of a Maserati. Andy joked that Adam gave him a tricycle. But, as Chris noted, he has not known Adam quite so long, and also is not as funny.
Chris Rock: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Chris recently presented at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony, where he introduced inductees the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Kelly didn’t know that Chris would be a fan of their music, but he said that he was a big fan, and he had a great story about how he first got to know them. When he was younger, he and some friends got — cover your eyes, kids– really high, and ended up at the wrong club. They were trying to see Grandmaster Flasher, but instead, a bunch of “white dudes” came onto the stage. They ended up staying, and really liked the music. Later on, Chris became good friends with the band’s members.
Chris Rock: Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted
Yesterday, “Live” guest Jessica Chastain talked about her character, Gia the Jaguar, in the upcoming Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. Chris is her co-star in the film, where he will be reprising his role of Marty the Zebra. Kelly called Madagascar 3 the most highly anticipated summer film in her house. Chris said that the film is the best one yet, and that other summer films better “watch out.” He added, “You hear that, Batman?”
Chris Rock: Circus Afro Craze
Chris and Marty the Zebra have inadvertently started a brand new craze: rainbow afro wigs. In a clip from the film, Marty puts on an afro wig and starts dancing in the circus tent to a hilarious tune. Even before the movie came out, everyone wanted Marty’s afro!
Chris revealed that the lines in the scene came from ad-libbing in the studio. His daughter, Lola, was there that day, and Chris started acting crazy in an attempt to cure her boredom. He, Kelly, and Andy watched the clip, and when it was done, the camera cut back to the three of them sporting the rainbow wigs. Kelly said, “if wearing this afro is wrong, then I don’t want to be right!”
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted is out today, so go check it out, and maybe grab your own afro wig on the way!
