Live With Kelly: Cameron Diaz
Since her breakout role in 1994’s The Mask, model-turned-actress Cameron Diaz has been one of America’s favorite leading ladies. Originally from San Diego, California, Cameron has appeared in a variety of films and has been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards. Today, Cameron stopped by “Live With Kelly” to chat with the hosts about her latest role, in the ensemble comedy film What to Expect When You’re Expecting.
Cameron Diaz: Met Gala with Stella McCartney
When the statuesque Cameron came out to join the hosts, Kelly stopped her before she sat down in order to demonstrate the height difference between the two of them. Cameron’s legs are just about the length of Kelly’s whole body! Cameron admitted that she has an extremely short torso, and that she’s “all legs.” Kelly faked a few sniffles, “wow, I feel so bad for you!”
Cameron was getting ready to attend the prestigious Met Gala later that night, which is the event where models and actresses gather to show off the year’s most high fashion looks. It takes place every year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is hosted by the Costume Institute and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. This year, Cameron attended the gala with designer Stella McCartney.
Cameron co-designed a dress with Stella specifically for the event. Stella sent Cameron some sketches, and they e-mailed back and forth to create a completely original gown. Cameron was very nervous about going up the stairs. She joked that she “might have to be airlifted,” because her dress weighs about thirty pounds.
Live With Kelly: Cameron Diaz Turning 40
If you can believe it, Cameron will be turning 40 later this year. Unlike many women, Cameron said she’s very excited. She loves getting older, and asked Kelly, “don’t you?” Kelly answered sarcastically, “Oh, yeah, I love it.”
Cameron said that as a society, we don’t give enough respect to age, and that getting older is something to be celebrated. We are so consumed with looks that we forget about all the great things that come with age, such as getting wiser and being comfortable with yourself. Cameron said you learn to navigate the world.
Cameron Diaz: “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”
What to Expect When You’re Expecting is the go-to pregnancy book for every parent-to-be. Cameron’s latest film is an adaptation of the book, although she explained that they each explore different aspects of pregnancy. The book is more like a manual, with lots of scientific facts. The film follows five different stories of couples who each become pregnant in different ways.
The ensemble film features an all-star cast, including Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Rodrigo Santoro, Chace Crawford, Anna Kendrick, and Dennis Quaid. Cameron plays a reality fitness guru who becomes pregnant by her partner on a dance reality show, played by Matthew Morrison. Cameron said that they got to do the cha-cha together.
Kelly, Michael, and Cameron watched a clip from the film of Cameron and Matthew’s characters fighting about whether or not to circumsize their son. You can catch Cameron and all the other stars in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, in theaters now.
