It was a very special day on Live with Kelly and Michael September 18, as Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann Romney, joined Kelly & Michael for an interview. Their appearance on Live! was the Romneys’ very first daytime appearance together. From politics and economic policies, to even Snooki and Honey Boo Boo, no topic was off limits for the Presidential hopeful and his loving wife.

Kelly first asked Governor Romney a great, simple question: why do you want to be President of the United States? It looks pretty tough!

Governor Romney said that he is inspired by all of the Americans who are currently struggling; from kids coming home from college without jobs, to people on welfare. Mitt Romney believes that his is the plan that will get America back on track.

Mitt & Ann Romney: How They Met

When Mitt Romney lost the Republican nomination to John McCain in 2008, Ann told her husband, “I am never doing this again.” Now, four years later, here they are! Ann said that a Presidential Campaign is undeniably hard on a family, but this time around, she promised herself that she would not let any negativity get to her.

Mitt Romney explained that he and his wife, who have now been married for 43 years, first met while they were in high school. She caught his eye at a party when he was a Senior and she was a Sophomore. He offered to drive her home, and as Governor Romney said, they’ve “been going steady ever since!” The Romneys have five sons and eighteen grandchildren.

Nowadays, the Romneys have precious little time to send with each other. However, Governor Romney said that usually they enjoy their Sunday mornings together, which is when they go to church.

Ann Romney: Living with Multiple Sclerosis

Ann Romney has unfortunately struggled through some difficult health issues: breast cancer, and then a diagnosis of MS. Ann tries to stay healthy, eat right, and get lots of rest, but sometimes it’s difficult while on the campaign trail.

Mrs. Romney wanted the American people to know that because of the struggles she’s faced, she has learned to have compassion for all people. That is what she will take with her to the White House if she becomes First Lady.

Mitt Romney Vs President Obama: What Do They Have in Common?

Obviously, Governor Romney is looking to defeat President Obama, so there is much talk about the differences between them. But Kelly wanted to know, what do the two political stars have in common? Governor Romney responded that he agrees with the way that President Obama handled the situation which resulted in the death of Osama Bin Laden. They are both concerned about schools and health care, it’s just that they are looking to handle these issues in different ways. Plus, Governor Romney believes that President Obama is a great husband and father.

Mitt Romney: Governor Romney on Health Care

If elected, Governor Romney wishes to focus on these key issues: becoming energy independent, trade, schools, balancing the budget, and helping small businesses. Health care is another big issue, and Governor Romney explained that he wants to replace the so-called “Obamacare” plan with measures that will bring down cost.

Overall, Governor Romney says that he is committed to more take home pay and more jobs for Americans.
