Kelly and Michael: Oscars Backstage 2014

Once again in 2014, Kelly Ripa had the opportunity to be the first person backstage to greet the presenters and the winners at this year’s Academy Awards. She and Michael Strahan said that there were plenty of surprises and laughs from the stars. It was time once again to see what the stars were saying.

Jared Leto told Kelly Ripa that he appreciated the opportunity to express what his mother and brother mean to him. Anne Hathaway said that it is better to give than to receive, and Kate Hudson said that she had taken her shoes off already.

Kevin Spacey is a two-time winner, and he joked that he was annoyed not to be nominated. Bradley Cooper said that his mother and sister were both attending the event with him. Bill Murray told Kelly that her red dress should get her in at any after party.

Winner Lupita Nyong’o said that she did not believe the predictions that she would win. “It’s hard to wrap my mind around,” she said, with tears on her face. Gabourey Sidibe played Marry, Date, Ditch, choosing to marry Jared Leto, date Bradley Cooper, and ditch Leonardo DiCaprio.

Kelly and Michael: Pink Backstage & Jennifer Garner

Pink, who performed onstage, admitted that she was very nervous. Kelly asked whether Kerry Washington’s baby was active and moving in utero during the awards. Jamie Foxx tried to get Kerry to name her baby after him.

Jennifer Garner tried to get Kelly to eat pizza with her, but Kelly did not want to breathe pizza breath on anyone else. Notorious name mispronouncer John Travolta invited Kelly to dance, and Cate Blanchett proudly showed said it was extraordinary to her that she won.

Kelly & Michael: Matthew McConaughey + 12 Years a Slave

Matthew McConaughey said he had to make sure that he heard his own name before getting up. He took a breath before taking the stage, and Kelly pondered whether there is a role he cannot play. “I’m going to keep trying to choose ones that scare the hell out of me,” he promised.

Steve McQueen thanked Kelly & Michael for encouraging audiences to see 12 Years a Slave, which won for best picture. McQueen could be seen jumping up and down onstage. Brad Pitt and the producers had a champagne with Kelly to wrap up her fabulous night.
