Christoph Waltz: Two-Time Oscar Winner
Live the morning after the Academy Awards, Kelly and Michael had the chance to interview one of the night’s big winners, Christoph Waltz. Christoph, who won in 2010 for his performance in Inglorious Basterds, picked up his second Best Supporting Actor Oscar last night. Thanks to his role as Dr. King Schultz in Django Unchained, Christoph now joins an exclusive club of two-time Oscar winners.
Christoph received a standing ovation from fans at the Dolby Theater, where he had received his award just hours ago. Still, Christoph admitted that he had no words to describe his feelings. Maybe Christoph was a bit tired from lack of sleep; he revealed that he partied all night, took a shower and came straight over to do Live.
Kelly pointed out that Christoph’s partnership with Quentin Tarantino seemed to be working for him, to say the least! Christoph plans on keeping his new Oscar next to his first Oscar, which he realized sounds very pretentious. However, I think it’s okay to sound a little pretentious if you’re a two-time Oscar winner.
Christoph Waltz: Future Projects
Two Academy Awards is a tough act to follow, but Christoph said that he has a plan for a new movie currently in the works. No, it’s not directed by Quentin Tarantino, but Christoph definitely hasn’t ruled out working with the director once more. If I were Christoph, I’d take Kelly’s advice and start working on a new Tarantino film as soon as possible. It just might lead to Oscar number three!
Kelly Ripa: Backstage At the Academy Awards
Later, Kelly and Michael checked out some great backstage footage. While Michael was on the red carpet, Kelly was behind the curtain backstage interviewing many of the night’s presenters and winners. She ran into Richard Gere, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Kerry Washington and more. She chatted with Kristen Stewart, who recently cut her foot and was hobbling off the stage.
Best of all, Kelly got to catch the night’s big winners off-guard, just seconds after giving their acceptance speeches. A flustered Anne Hathaway said that she forgot to thank one of her agents, Brian Lord, while Jennifer Lawrence (post-trip) forgot to thank Harvey Weinstein. Kelly had the chance to meet Adele for the first time and grabbed some hugs from Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Jack Nicholson. Lucky girl!
