Lana Parrilla: Born and Raised in Brooklyn
Lana Parrilla may be a Hollywood star today, but she’s a true New York girl, having been born and raised in Brooklyn. Lana was raised with an Italian mother and a Puerto Rican father, playing tag football and stickball in the streets with her friends. She was a big tomboy, and admitted that she still is to this day.
When Lana returns home to Brooklyn, she always asks for her favorite Puerto Rican dishes that her aunt cooks for her, and it’s always a big homecoming.
Lana Parrilla: “Once Upon a Time” Season Two
Lana stars in the ABC fantasy-drama series Once Upon a Time, which is just about to begin its second season. The show is set in the fictional Maine town of Storybrooke, where fairy tale characters live as every day citizens, trapped by a curse. The woman behind the curse is Lana’s character, The Evil Queen. In Storybrooke, the Queen poses as Mayor Regina Mills, but she is still one evil witch!
However, Lana said that Regina is not as evil this season, and is heading on a path toward redemption. Last season, the fairy tale characters woke up from their curse, so Regina has everyone out to get her. Lana loves playing such a mean character, because she can “go over-the-top.” But she also loves to play the vulnerable side of Regina, too.
Lana Parrilla: Favorite Villain
She may be a great villain on television herself, but who is Lana’s favorite fictional villain? She said Freddy Kreuger from A Nightmare on Elm Street. She loves him because he was funny, but he also “scared the hell out of her.”
You can catch Lana Parrilla on the season premiere of Once Upon a Time Sunday, September 30 on ABC.
