Kelly & Michael: Emma Watson “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”

Emma Watson: All Grown Up

Emma Watson was just a normal English girl, with no acting experience, when she was cast as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise. Now, Emma is all grown up and a budding movie star.

When Emma joined Kelly & Michael on September 13, it was a homecoming of sorts; Emma revealed that the Live! producers told her that she is one of the show’s most consistent guests. Kelly complimented Emma on having grown up so “beautifully and brilliantly,” and Emma joked, “thanks, Mum!”

Emma Watson: Short Hair

Emma is quite the fashionista, having previously modeled for Burberry and Lancome. Emma is currently sporting a short hairdo, which she is now attempting to grow out. She likes having short hair, but since she cut her hair into a very cropped pixie two years ago, it’s time for a change. However, if you’ve never had short hair, Emma highly recommends it. She says it’s “liberating,” plus easy to wash!

Emma Watson: Most Dangerous Celebrity?

At first glance, you may not think that the tiny Emma Watson is a dangerous celebrity. But watch out, because searching for her name on the internet could give your computer a virus! Last year, “Emma Watson” was the celebrity name that gave computers the most viruses. Emma called the honor “a backhanded compliment”– at least she knows that people are searching for her!

Emma Watson: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Emma Watson’s new film is a coming-of-age story called The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and it’s based on the popular novel of the same by Stephen Chbosky. The story focuses on high school student Charlie (played by Logan Lerman) and his two best friends, Patrick (played by Ezra Miller) and rebellious party girl Sam (played by Emma). The film also stars Dylan McDermott, Paul Rudd, Kate Walsh, and Nina Dobrev.

Emma admitted that every time she’s seen a screening of the film, she’s become very emotional. Most recently, at the Toronto Film Festival, she embarrassed herself with make-up running all down her face! She explained that the reason for the tears is that for her, making the film was a very meaningful experience. So now, seeing people react and connect to the film in the same way, is a very special thing for her.

Emma Watson: Shooting the Tunnel Scene

In the book, there is a famous scene in which Charlie, Patrick, and Sam drive through the Fork Pit tunnel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The same scene is in the movie, and Emma called shooting it “one of the best experiences” of her entire life. During the scene, Emma hangs out of the car sun roof and flaps her arms like a bird. She revealed that it wasn’t written in the script, but since she felt like she was really flying, it was the right thing to do.

Emma, Kelly, and Michael took a look at that great scene, which is generating a lot of excitement for the film. To see Emma and the rest of the incredible cast, don’t miss The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The film opens in New York and Los Angeles on September 21 2012, and in wide release on September 28 2012.

About the author

After my childhood dream of achieving Olympic figure skating gold fell through, I moved on to Plan B: become a writer. I've been writing since I can remember, and consider myself lucky to be making a career out of it. I graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2011, and since that time, I have worked as a writer, editor and blogger. Luckily for this site, my love of TV borders on obsession.
