Mark Consuelos & Kelly Ripa Co-Host

Before hurrying off to the store to return their unwanted presents, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos swung by the Live With Kelly studio to put a shiny new wrapper on the repeat segments they’re re-gifting us all today. Put the last of the eggnog in your coffee and don’t pay too much attention to what Kelly’s wearing, because it’ll change in every segment.

Mark Consuelos: Holiday Clutter Cleaner

Live With Kelly Ripa: Mark Consuelos Co-Hosts The Day After Christmas

First, it’s time for some vague chatter about nonspecific holiday celebrations. Kelly Ripa explained that Mark Consuelos is obsessed with cleaning up holiday clutter as soon as possible. Once the presents are open, he begins cleaning up the wrapping and decorations. Mark Consuelos insisted he’s gotten better over the years.

Kelly Ripa reenacted her husband’s approach, letting Mark Consuelos rip up an index card and collecting the pieces before they were even out of his hands. “But then I’m very relaxed. After that’s done, I am very much in the Christmas spirit,” Mark Consuelos explained. But Kelly Ripa suggested that his good mood has more to do with the liquor she serves.

Mark Consuelos: Christmas Beverage Calorie Count

Kelly Ripa pointed out there are lots of calories in holiday drinks like eggnog. Mark Consuelos said if he’s going to have lots of calories during celebrations, he would prefer to drink them over eating them. He shared some details on popular holiday drinks. There are 30 grams of fat in an eggnog latte.

The #1 most caloric, highest fat holiday drink is called the Holiday Spice Sugar Cookie Blast, coming in at 1,256 calories and 39.6 grams of fat. “I would have to be drunk to drink a 1,200 calorie beverage,” Kelly Ripa said.

Kelly Ripa said she does not like the guidelines that require calorie information to appear on restaurant menus in New York City. She said she eats out so rarely that she doesn’t want to be reminded of the calories in the desserts she wants to try. Though she thinks the guidelines are useful, they do deter her from ordering things she otherwise might. In my opinion, a couple desserts are not going to hurt Kelly Ripa’s ludicrously trim figure, especially if she keeps doing that Physique 57 workout.

Kelly Ripa: Men’s Health Happiest & Saddest Cities

Kelly Ripa talked about holiday depression, saying that holidays can bring out the best and the worst in people. She shared a list of the saddest cities, according to Men’s Health magazine. St. Petersburg, Florida, was at #100 the list, which surprised Mark Consuelos who used to live there.

Factors in the rankings included unemployment rates, use of antidepressants, and the number of people who reported feeling the blues regularly. The #1 frown-proof town on the list was Honolulu, Hawaii. “I’d be smiling all the time if I lived there, too,” Kelly Ripa said.

Other happy spots included Manchester, New Hampshire, and Fargo, North Dakota. Omaha, Nebraska, Boston, Massachusetts, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Plano, Texas, were among the 10 happiest cities.

Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa’s home of New York City got a grade C, and was the 39th least happy city on the list.

Spa La La La La Travel Trivia

Today’s contestant was Judie Santo from Lake, Michigan, who played via Skype from Alabama, where she was on vacation. She was playing for a trip to the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa in California. The seven-day, six-night trip includes $100 in food and beverages per day and two spa treatments per person. It was valued at $7,200.

The question was: “Earlier this year, what did Kelly stomp on in a barrel to try to set a new Guinness World Record?” The answer was grapes, and Judie got it right! Also, audience member 3 received a Jergens skin care gift basket and $500.
