Live With Kelly: Michael Strahan Co-Hosted

Live With Kelly: First Emmy Win

Kelly was once again joined by NFL analyst Michael Strahan as guest co-host of the day. Michael first congratulated Kelly on her third Emmy win, but also the show for its very first win. Like Kelly, Michael couldn’t believe that it was the first Emmy win for a show that has been on the air for 24 years. Kelly complimented the producers and Gelman for consistently putting on such a great show. She also joked that she heard Michael may have roughed up some of the Emmy voters. Whatever it was, the odds were finally in their favor!

On a sadder note, Kelly took some time to acknowledge the passing of writer and filmmaker Nora Ephron. Nora died yesterday at the age of 71, and Kelly referred to her as a “brilliant woman” and one of the nicest people she had ever met. Kelly said that every time she had a baby and had a case of “the baby blues,” she would watch Heart Burn, one of Nora’s films that starred Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. Although Nora is gone too soon, as Michael pointed out, her many great films will remain with us.

Michael Strahan: Cake Thief Story Continued

Last week, Michael told the story of how his favorite cake was stolen by a family friend on a recent trip home to visit his parents. As it turns out, there is a new development in the saga. Michael was visiting the Microsoft store in Danbury, Connecticut, and a woman who worked there actually baked him a cake! Michael appreciated the gesture, but he did not eat the cake, because he doesn’t eat food from strangers. Kelly said that she actually eats everything people send her, even though she probably shouldn’t. In case people forgot, Michael wanted to emphasize that the original cake thief’s name was Regina Wooten.

Live With Kelly: Cell Phones and Parents

Michael said that both of his parents have cell phones and they both text, which impressed Kelly. She said that only her dad has a cell phone, and he barely knows what to do with it. Jokingly, Kelly asked Michael if his parents send naughty texts to one another. Of course, Michael said that if they do, he doesn’t want to know! Kelly said that her friend accidentally sent a “sext” to her own son that was actually meant for her husband. Talk about embarrassing!

Live With Kelly: Robin Roberts Bone Marrow Donations

A few weeks back, “Good Morning America” host bravely revealed that she is being treated for MDS, a blood and bone marrow disease. However, the bright side of the story is that bone marrow donors have nearly doubled since she went public with her struggle. Kelly applauded Robin’s bravery, and thanks to her, more people are going to get the help that they need.

Live With Kelly: 50 Cent Accident

Michael reported that rapper 50 Cent was injured when he got rear-ended by a truck in his bullet-proof SUV. Thankfully, 50 Cent is going to be okay, so Michael joked that his SUV needed to be “truck-proof, not bullet-proof.” 50 even tweeted a picture of himself on the stretcher being taken to the hospital.

Kelly told a story of when her son, Michael, was a baby, and she got very sick and passed out. Mark called 911, but she was already feeling better by the time the paramedics came. Since she didn’t want to be seen by her neighbors, Kelly pulled a sheet over her head while she was being carried out on the stretcher. However, the paramedics told her not to do that, because then everyone would have thought she was dead!
