Kelly & Michael: The Ides of March
Beware the Ides of March! We all know the famous saying, but where does it actually originate? Kelly Ripa filled her audience in on the annual tradition. March 15 was marked by several religious observances for ancient Romans, and it’s also the date of Julius Caesar’s assassination in 44 BC. In Canada, the day is commemorated by drinking a “Bloody Caesar.” The cocktail is essentially a Bloody Mary with the addition of clam juice.
Luckily, Kelly and Michael had two Bloody Casears already prepared for them to try. Michael thought it was gross. On the other hand, Kelly liked hers. The taste reminded her of a Big Mac.
Kelly Ripa: Sagging Pants Trend
Kelly also brought up the re-emergence of the sagging pants trend, and we have Justin Bieber to thank. In the 90s and early 2000s, the trend was displayed by musicians such as Eminem, Marky Mark and Tupac. “At least Marky Mark pulled up his pants and calls himself Mark Wahlberg now,” Michael said. Really, Kelly just wanted an excuse to dance to the song “Pants on the Ground.”
Michael Strahan: “Being Biden” Web Series
Michael announced that Vice President Joe Biden now has his own reality show. But before you cringe, know that it’s actually a web series, and it sounds pretty boring. The show will feature stories from the Vice President, but no behind-the-scenes gossip from the White House. Michael isn’t planning on tuning in, because it sounds a little too tame for his taste.
Kelly & Michael: Who Should Keep Engagement Ring?
When an engagement is called off, who should keep the engagement ring? Kelly and Michael have disagreed on this topic before, and today was no different. In this particular instance, a woman is being sued by her ex-fiance for losing her $48,000 engagement ring in the back of a cab. He was the one who called off the engagement.
Since he dumped her, Kelly believes that she doesn’t owe him anything. On the other hand, if she had been the one to end things, then it’s only fair she return the ring. Even though it really depends on the circumstances, I’m inclined to agree with Kelly. That seems only fair.
Michael, on the other hand, believes the ring should be returned no matter what. He thinks the woman shouldn’t want to keep the ring anyway, so she should give it back regardless of who breaks up with whom. What do you think?
March Into Spring Travel Trivia: Josh Henderson
Karen won a trip to the Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort and Spa in St. Lucia while playing March Into Spring Travel Trivia. She answered the question: What is the name of Josh Henderson’s dog? The answer is Sadie. An audience member took home a $500 gift card to Calphalon Cookware.
