Kelly & Michael Fitness Challenge: AcroYoga

Kelly and Michael’s Fitness Challenge came to an end today when the two tried their hand at a very strange type of exercise called AcroYoga. The exercises associated with the workout are meant to put your partnership, cooperation and trust to the test as both of the people exercising use each other as a balance and anchor to the different moves they perform.

Chelsea Korus and Matt Giordano showed Kelly and Michael some of the moves they would be able to learn if they became experts at the exercise and it was mind blowing. Matt laid on his back as Chelsea did some spectacular moves on his feet. It was like the professional version of the airplane game or what Cirque du Soleil might do if they had an entire show where someone lays on their back and throws someone around with their feet.

Korus and Girodano said they met on a street corner. Giordano would do his yoga on the street on a piece of cardboard and Chelsea just happened to be working at the store he was doing the yoga in front of. As she watched him, he went into the store and told her she would be great at the exercises. So she got on his feet and they started doing AcroYoga together.

Kelly and Michael gave Acroyoga a shot and it was a bit surprising to watch. They weren’t too bad, although Kelly looked terrified throughout the entire exercise. At one point Michael was holding her completely over his head as she laid flat and another time Kelly did a handstand on Michael’s shoulders while she held his feet. It was pretty remarkable.
