Katie: General Hospital’s 50th Anniversary
On April 4 2013, Katie has a preview of the upcoming 50th anniversary of General Hospital. The nation was captivated by the relationship between Luke and Laura. Katie gives us a preview of her first soap cameo and a special performance from Rick Springfield. Also on this episode, Katie interviews Kin Shriner, Maurice Benard, Finola Hughes and Kelly Monaco.
Katie Couric: General Hospital Cameo
Over 50 years, General Hospital has become the standard of soap operas. It holds the Guinness Book of World Records’ spots for longest-running American soap still in production and the third longest-running drama in television. They’ve seen marriages, deaths, births and plots to destroy the world. Fans have stuck with the show, while others have found it a little out of this world.
Katie: Luke & Laura
On April 4, Katie talks to Luke and Laura themselves. Genie Francis and Anthony Geary played one of TV’s first power couples. Their wedding had millions watching and is still the highest-rated hour in American soap opera history.
Francis had no idea it would capture that much attention. Her favorite story to share is receiving a bottle of champagne from Princess Diana. She said that she wasn’t of drinking age and someone took the bottle from her. If I was Genie Francis, I probably would have died.
Katie: Kin Shriner, Maurice Bernard & Finola Hughes
Also in this special episode, Katie talks to three other stars of the show. Kin Shriner plays Scott Baldwin. Maurice Benard plays Sonny Corinthos. Finola Hughes plays Anne Devane.
I remember watching General Hospital with my mom and never being able to figure out who was who (I’m a Young & the Restless girl). The only person I always recognize is Sonny Corinthos, who is a on-again-off-again mobster. It’s hard to tell when he’s good or bad because he’s always got the mobster look.
I’m always shocked to see Finola Hughes on the show because she hosted How Do I Look? It was the first of the makeover shows on TV. She took people’s closets and threw out the bad to find them a new life. How Do I Look? only lasted a few seasons, but it was so much better than What Not To Wear. If you’re a devotee to General Hospital don’t miss Katie’s exclusive look inside the 50th anniversary on April 4 2013.
